JUNIOR CLUB POLICIES & WJSA REGULATIONS
All children are to play within their own age grade.
Refer to grades as shown on registration form.
NURSERY GRADE: Generally for 5 and 6 year olds. Saturday morning 9.00-10.00am at
Centennial Park. Introduction to skills of the game and small sided games. Size 3
football.
7th & 8th GRADE: - Squads of eight. For 7 and 8 year olds. Play SIX aside on
small pitches in various locations around Wellington. Rolling subs. Very few rules. Size 3
football.
9th GRADE: - Squads of ten Play EIGHT aside on intermediate sized pitches. Size
4 football. Better players may be streamed in preparation for 10th Grade Section One side
contesting right to Regional League status at eleventh Grade.
NOTES: 7th, 8th & 9th grade are non competition games.
Playing times: 7th Grade - 15 minutes halves. 8th & 9th Grade - 20 minute halves
No points tables are kept.
Teams formed on general basis of which school children attend and/or who their friends
are.
10th GRADE: Play ELEVEN aside games. Trials may be held to decide team
selection. Teams selected on merit. Teams may be totally different from selection for 9th
grade sides of previous year.
Teams play in a competition where League tables are compiled.
Team/s qualify for participation in 11th grade Regional League in following season. Size 4
football
11th GRADE: Same as for 10th grade. Introduction of Regional League for leading
teams of 10th grade.
Representative teams now selected. Size 4 football
12th & 13th GRADE: Playing conditions same as for 10th Grade.
Regional League participation. Size 4 football
PLAYING TIMES:10th & 11th Grade - 25 minute halves
12th & 13th Grade - 30 minute halves
END OF SEASON AWARDS: Nursery Grade:- Certificates and medallions to all
players.
7th & 8th Grades- Certificates and medallions to all players. Club trophies, but NO
team trophies.
9th, 10th, 11th, 12th & 13th Grades- Certificates to all players. Club trophies. Two
team trophies per team.
GENERAL: Shirts belong to the Club and must be returned at the end of each
season.Considerable finance has been spent recently on outfitting teams with new shirts.
Support from parents would be appreciated to ensure the shirts are worn only at Miramar
Club games. Shirts are not for wearing to school.
Miramar Rangers Junior administrators can only undertake the basic administrative tasks
associated with the running of junior football. With close to thirty junior teams the Club
requires parents to assist where they can in administration, managing or coaching. The
Club requires the involvement of the parents for the actual running of each team. Guidance
in these areas will be provided. The Club can only be as successful as the input provided
by parents.
